From Legacy Systems to Secure, Member-First Digital Access

The Challenge

When the California JPIA first engaged JUVE in 2014, its website infrastructure was built on an antiquated Joomla system that made it difficult for members to find information and for staff to respond efficiently. Backend systems were fragmented and hard to integrate, security was limited, and sensitive member information required stronger controls. Staff frequently relied on phone calls and emails to compensate for poor digital access.

The Approach

JUVE partnered with the California JPIA over multiple years to progressively modernize its digital platform. This included rebuilding early systems in PHP, later transitioning to Sitefinity in a .NET environment based on third-party recommendations, and ultimately designing and implementing a WordPress-based platform optimized for long-term stability, flexibility, and security.

A major milestone was the introduction of single sign-on (SSO), enabling secure, seamless access across password-protected systems and third-party integrations.

The Outcome

The current WordPress platform is the longest-running and most secure website the California JPIA has had. Members can now find needed information in one to two clicks, significantly reducing staff intervention. The system supports secure role-based access, faster response times, and a scalable foundation that continues to evolve.

Why It Matters

For JPAs, a website is an operational system, not just a marketing tool. the California JPIA’s evolution shows how thoughtful, long-term digital partnership can improve security, efficiency, and member experience.

Turning Custom Ideas into Scalable Member Systems

The Challenge

Before JUVE, the California JPIA lacked a partner capable of executing custom digital projects aligned to its unique processes. Ideas for improved workflows and communications existed, but off-the-shelf tools forced compromises.

The Approach

JUVE partnered with the California JPIA to design and build a suite of custom systems tailored to real operational needs. These included a resource library, training catalog and calendar, claims submission system, custom LMS, email directory, CRM-based prospective membership system, proprietary video-on-demand platform, custom newsletter system, and a unified single sign-on layer.

The Outcome

the California JPIA now operates with a customized digital ecosystem that saves staff time, simplifies member access, and enables ongoing refinement without abandoning prior investments.

Why It Matters

For complex member-driven organizations, customization unlocks clarity. the California JPIA’s experience highlights JUVE’s role as a long-term execution partner capable of building systems that evolve with the organization.

Transforming RMEF into a Destination Event

The Challenge

Prior to JUVE’s involvement, the California JPIA’s Risk Management Educational Forum (RMEF) relied on minimal visual identity and limited communications, despite being the organization’s largest annual event. The look and feel did not reflect the event’s importance or scale.

The Approach

Starting in 2017, JUVE reimagined RMEF as a fully branded, immersive experience. This included annual themes, graphics, communication tools, and consistent design across every event touchpoint—from promotions to signage, banners, and table settings.

JUVE collaborated closely with the California JPIA staff to evolve the event year over year.

The Outcome

RMEF has grown into a destination event in public-sector risk management. Member engagement improved, visibility expanded statewide, and the event became a point of pride for the California JPIA staff.

In 2020, JUVE successfully transitioned RMEF to a virtual format under the theme “Resilient Together,” ensuring continuity during COVID.

Why It Matters

Major events are trust-building moments for member-driven organizations. RMEF demonstrates how integrated creative direction and communications elevate engagement and impact.
