Modernizing a JPA Website to Improve Usability and Transparency
The Challenge
SCCSIG was operating with an outdated WordPress website that no longer met their needs. The site was difficult to manage, visually dated, and challenging to navigate. SCCSIG was seeking a refresh that would modernize their digital presence while remaining easy for staff to maintain internally.
As a Joint Powers Authority, transparency was also a critical requirement. Public meeting agendas and minutes needed to be shared clearly and accessibly, and ADA accessibility was an important factor in selecting a partner.
SCCSIG learned about JUVE through ASCIP, an existing JUVE client, and reached out for support based on that recommendation.
The Solution
JUVE rebuilt the SCCSIG website with a clean, modern design and a simplified navigation structure focused on usability and maintainability. The site was intentionally designed as a direct marketing and informational platform, without unnecessary custom complexity.
One of the most customized components of the rebuild was the setup for publishing public meeting agendas and minutes, ensuring SCCSIG could meet transparency requirements efficiently. ADA accessibility best practices were incorporated throughout the site to improve access for all users.
The updated structure allows SCCSIG staff to manage the majority of site updates independently, reducing reliance on outside support.
The Impact
SCCSIG now has a modern, easy-to-navigate website that supports both public transparency and internal efficiency. Members and the public can find information with fewer clicks, and staff are empowered to maintain and update the site on their own.
The result is a sustainable digital foundation that meets JPA requirements today while allowing room for future enhancements as SCCSIG’s needs evolve.
